All about Love and Memories...

Finally saw Mahesh Bhatt's 'Phir Teri Kahani Yaad Aayi' this evening, after a long wait and with huge excitement.

There were two reasons for why I desperately wanted to catch this one asap. Firstly, I had read somewhere that This film too had shades of Mahesh Bhatt's life and vignettes from his turbulent relationship with Parveen Babi.
Secondly, I am a mighty big fan of its sound-track, and just couldnt wait to see how they were picturised.

The film has a touching concept, and an intriguing execution to it. But still, it falls short by a large margin due to innumerable loose ends. I guess Mahesh Bhatt didnt have enough budget to make this film (It was a tele-film).

But then, We can sense the poignance in a few scenes. Just wished the film had same connectivity level throughout its running time.

The love story between the Protagonists is established too quickly, and it gives the audience little time to understand the passion between them. The film has many great moments. Unfortunately, they don't really manage to overshadow the negative factors.
However, the Climax really spoke a lot and made up for a predictable pre-climax.

This film shall not be judged on technical grounds. But I really wished the Camera-work was more haunting.
However, I loved the fact that Most of the film was shot at night. It added to the intriguing beauty of the story.

Anu Malik's sound-track is just superb! It does what Mahesh Bhatt couldnt do - Convey the pathos of the characters to some extent.

Pooja Bhatt has made a great attempt at portraying the fear and insecurities of a Schizophrenic woman, who yearns for love. But the film needed some more minutes to define her character.

Rahul Roy disappoints. He is good in some scenes, but then plain wooden in others. Wished someone more capable of tackling intense roles had played this character.

'Phir Teri Kahani Yaad Aayi' is a nice ode to love and Memories attached to it. But cinematically, It disappoints more or less. More so because it came from Mahesh Bhatt, and looked like one of his more personal films than commercial.

Cheers!
